Artist par excellence, Maestro Navassardian is universally recognized as an \u201cindisputable personality,\u201d \u201cone of the most fascinating pianists,\u201d who, as described by music critics, \u201chas become the symbol of resistance against everything that embodies routine and predictability in modern piano playing.\u201d                                                                                                                                              Svetlana Navassardian is a laureate of the international piano competitions Schumann, Bach, Queen Elisabeth, and Sydney. Her piano artistry is highly acclaimed by many renowned musicians, including E. Gilels, A. Fisher, Monique de la Bruchollerie, E. Ax, D. Lively, E. Virsaladze, and E. Kissin. Her recording of P. Hindemith’s \u00abLudus Tonalis\u00bb was praised by Sviatoslav Richter, and her performance of R. Schumann’s \u00abDavidsb\u00fcndlert\u00e4nze\u00bb during her triumphant concert at Salle Gaveau in Paris was recognized by critics as ‘one of the best ever heard.’ Svetlana’s repertoire includes more than 60 piano and orchestra concertos, among them all the concertos by Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven, as well as numerous monographic programs. She is one of the few pianists in the world to perform all 27 of Mozart’s concertos.                                                                                              A student of the famous professor Yakov Zak and his assistant at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the young Svetlana is frequently invited to prestigious international festivals (in Venice, Echternach, Tours, Sapporo, Granada, etc.) and major concert halls around the world \u2013 whether it is the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Sydney Opera House, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, the Salle Gaveau in Paris, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Teatro Col\u00f3n in Buenos Aires, the Asahi Hall in Tokyo, the Phoenix Hall in Osaka, or Nybrokajen in Stockholm, etc.<\/p>\n

Svetlana Navassardian has undertaken numerous international tours with recitals in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Greece, Japan, China, Australia, Egypt, Kuwait, and elsewhere. She is frequently a member of the jury for various renowned international piano competitions.                                                                                                                                                    Svetlana Navassardian’s dynamic musical career is filled with numerous collaborations with world-renowned soloists and conductors, including E. Svetlanov, V. Gergiev, K. Etti, S. Keller, E. Lee, Ch. Warren-Green, E. Virsaladze, N. Gutman, V. Spivakov, Y. Bashmet, R. Aharonyan, and others.<\/p>\n

Svetlana was born in Alaverdi into a family where music and the arts were revered. Her father, Hovahnnes Navassardian, a historian, was one of the pioneering architects of the public education system in Armenia. Svetlana’s mother, Hranush Petrossian, was a mathematician and classical singer. An enchanting lyric-dramatic soprano and an extraordinary artistic personality, she had a decisive influence on Svetlana’s artistic achievements. “The memory of my parents takes me back to Alaverdi in my childhood – the place where my dreams took flight, to which my parents remained ‘faithful’ their entire lives.” (S. Svetlana Navassardian has been awarded the Order of Saint Mesrop Mashtots, the Order of Honor of the Republic of Armenia, the highest government honors in Armenia, as well as the Saint Mesrop-Saint Sahak Order, the highest distinction of the Armenian Apostolic Church.<\/p>\n
